Did she or didn’t she? Did he or didn’t he? (Yep –Phelps totally did). From smoking bongs to swimming across the Altantic, swimming has been making some headlining waves lately.
Jennifer Figge of Aspen, Colorado, recently claimed she swam across the Atlantic Ocean in 24 days. Starting point was in Cape Verde off the coast of Africa and arrival at Trinidad, off the coast of Venezuela. That’s a distance of some 2,700 miles. As this Examiner article probes:
If she had (swum across the entire Atlantic Ocean per the earlier reports), she would have swum faster than Michael Phelps — pre-bong — hour after hour, day after day.
A reporter who covers endurance sports started doing did the math and discovered if she made the distance in the amount of time she claimed, she’d have to had swum a mile in 71/2 minutes, or about half the time of the current world record for swimming a mile.
Phelps is taking a genuine beating for his stupid move. I’m not saying smoking pot is stupid — it’s legal if you have a medical marijuana license where I live — I’m just saving his bravdo or choice to put himself in a position to be photographed doing this activity wasn’t his best moment. A great site to follow this story would be Huffington Post.
